Touch-ups (“Psychological Warfare”—Part I)

Comics are a collaborative effort. The scriptwriter can ask for corrections to an illustration to maintain the overall consistency. We asked the inker to give Fabien diving goggles to add a touch of realism to that part of the story.

Touch-ups (Confrontation)

Comics are a collaborative effort. The scriptwriter can ask for corrections to an illustration to maintain the overall consistency. The illustrator initially gave Fabien a weapon here, but we had always tried to not give him weapons, since he is our specialist in hand-to-hand combat.

Touch-ups (The Confrontation – Part II)

Correcting a panel doesn’t always mean correcting something already drawn. It can also mean adding something in, or even adding pages. We asked our collaborator to add a new page to create a transition marking the end of the hostilities—for now. Also, it allowed a space for Cartier to reflect on events to come.

Touch-ups (The Confrontation – Part I)

Comics are the fruit of collaboration. The writer may ask the illustrator to correct an image to make a more coherent visual whole. We asked our artist to remove a weapon from Fabien’s hand, as much as possible, because we wanted him to remain a hand-to-hand combat specialist.

Touch-ups (Freaks) – Part II

Comics are a team enterprise. The writer may ask for changes to an illustration to maintain consistency. For this story were especially concerned with maintaining continuity over the sequence of scenes. So if, for example, Fabien is holding something in his right hand, he can’t then drop it with his right, or if Jason fires a shot using his left hand, he can’t raise the weapon with his right hand in the next panel. We understand the use of ellipses: not everything has to appear in each illustration, but we prefer to maintain an overall consistency.
